I have forgotten my email address and / or password
If you have forgotten your email address or password, contact the email administrator for your domain. Failing that, click here.
Why does 'Incorrect logon' appear when trying to access my email?
You are probably using the wrong username or password. Try typing it in again or, alternatively, contact your email administrator of your domain.
Does web-based email time out?
Web-based email does time out after a pre-determined period of inactivity after which you will be invited to log in again.
How do I set up Outlook Express for my email account?
These instructions are for Outlook Express 5 and Outlook Express 6.
  • Open 'Outlook Express'.
  • Click on Tools from the main menu and then click on Accounts... from the sub-menu.
  • Click on the Add button then click on Mail...
  • Enter your name in the Display name box.
  • Click on I have an email address that I'd like to use then enter your email address in the Email address box.
  • In the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server box enter 'pop3.yourdomain', e.g. 'pop3.schoolgrid.net' and in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server box enter 'smtp.yourdomain', e.g. 'smtp.schoolgrid.net'.
  • Enter your email address in the Account name box and your password in the Password box.
  • Click on the Finish button.
  • Now click the Close button and that's it, Outlook Express is correctly configured.
How do I set up external POP3 accounts within my webmail mailbox?
You can access other POP3 email accounts you may have through Schoolgrid Email.

To set up an external POP 3 account
  • Login to your email.
  • Click on Options.
  • Click on External Mail.
  • Click on Add New External Account and complete details of your email account in the relevant boxes. If you don't know all the settings, refer to your other email provider.
Who is responsible for the creation of email accounts?
The ICT Coordinator/Network Manager of your organisation is responsible for the creation and maintenance of email accounts.
Where can I access my email from?
Remember your email can be accessed from any computer with Internet facilities via http://webmail.schoolgrid.net or http://webmail.mailgrid.net.

You can log in using your email address and password.
What about viruses?
The email service constantly checks incoming and outgoing mail for viruses, as well as unsuitable content.
How do I store details of my contacts?
Your web-based email has an address book, so you can save all your useful email addresses online.
Can I send attachments?
Attachments can be sent with your emails by following the instructions at the bottom of the page when you compose an email.
